I am a Sub and have been given 30,000 lines to do for something I did wrong this week.

but as a sub I feel that's way too much and yes each line is short but 30,000 of them.

i have tried to get them down but he won't.

Myth of Sisyphus comes to mind. Way too much and interesting that he set such an impossible task. It's either careless or deliberate and in either case the result is the same.

Sorry.

That's just silly.

Someone I know did 1000 and that was a serious task. There's a discussion in a book somewhere about numbers (I can't remember the exact title of the book, sorry, something like The Art of Discipline) and it doesn't go beyond 1000.

I suggest you say the task is impossibly silly and see what the reaction is. If it's not acceptable then it's time to end the relationship.

It could have been a typo for 300? Even that is a serious punishment.

Absolutely daft. The two previous correspondents are pretty much on the money. There was another thread on here about how do you say 'thanks, but no thanks' and it sounds as if he's found the perfect way.
